Musically Representative Test Signals for Interaural Cross-Correlation Coefficient Measurement Short title: Test signals for cross-correlation measurement

چکیده
Neher et al 2 Summary Typically, measurements that aim to predict perceived spatial impression of music signals in concert halls are performed by calculating the interaural cross-correlation coefficient (IACC) of a binaurally-recorded impulse response. Previous research, however, has shown that this can lead to results very different from those obtained if a musical input signal is used. The reasons for this discrepancy were investigated, and it was found that the overall duration of the source signal, its onset and offset times, and the magnitude and rate of any spectral fluctuations, have a very strong effect on the IACC. Two test signals, synthesised to be representative of a wide range of musical stimuli, can extend the external validity of traditional IACC-based measurements.

Application of Model-Based Estimation to Time-Delay Estimation of Ultrasonic Testing Signals
Time-Delay-Estimation (TDE) has been a topic of interest in many applications in the past few decades. The emphasis of this work is on the application of model-based estimation (MBE) for TDE of ultrasonic signals used in ultrasonic thickness gaging. Ultrasonic thickness gaging is based on precise measurement of the time difference between successive echoes which reflect back from the back wall ...
متن کاملObjective Measurement of Perceived Auditory Quality in Multi-channel Audio Compression Coding Systems
Objective quality assessment methods have been used widely for evaluation of audio coding systems. However, even though many different competing multi-channel audio compression coding systems are being developed, most current quality assessment methods only predict results for monaural or stereo signals. In this paper, a prediction method is introduced that can be used for multi-channel audio c...
متن کاملPerception of head-position-dependent variations in interaural cross-correlation coefficient
Experiments were undertaken to elicit the perceived effects of head-position-dependent variations in the interaural cross-correlation coefficient of a range of signals. A graphical elicitation experiment showed that the variations in the IACC strongly affected the perceived width and depth of the reverberant environment, as well as the perceived width and distance of the sound source. A verbal ...
متن کاملMonitoring Depth of Anesthesia by Nonlinear Correlation Measures
Background: Monitoring the depth of anesthesia (DOA) takes an important role for anesthetists in order avoiding undesirable reactions such as intraoperative awareness, prolonged recovery and increased risk of postoperative complications. The Central Nervous System (CNS) is the main target of anesthetic drugs, hence EEG signal processing during anesthesia is helpful for monitoring DOA. In order t...
متن کاملDevelopment of a head-movement-aware signal capture system for the prediction of acoustical spatial impression
This research introduces a novel technique for capturing binaural signals for objective evaluation of spatial impression; the technique allows for simulation of the head movement that is typical in a range of listening activities. A subjective listening test showed that the amount of head movement made was larger when listeners were rating perceived source width and envelopment than when rating...
